Analysis of PFAS in the sediments of two rivers near the La Rama fire brigade training site

The use of PFAS-containing fire-fighting foams during fire-fighting training can lead to the dispersion of these pollutants in the environment in soils, water and sediment. Previous studies by the Water Department, the Protection and Rescue Service (SPSL) and the Environment Unit of the City of Lausanne in collaboration with the Office of the Environment of the Canton of Vaud confirmed the presence of PFAS in the soil and water at the La Rama Training Centre (Press release).

This project, commissioned by the City of Lausanne, aims to provide additional information on the level of PFAS pollution around the La Rama site by analysing fine sediments from the rivers below the training site, the Tioleire and the Talent. Sediment samples will be taken upstream and downstream of La Rama.
