Staff at the Ecotox Centre
We welcome two new employees, Janine Wong and Alan Bergmann. Welcome to the Ecotox Centre! And we wish Sophie Campiche every success in her new activities.
Janine Wong started working as a scientist at the Ecotox Centre in Lausanne in January 2018 and is responsible for soil ecotoxicology. Janine studied biology at the University of Tübingen (D). In her dissertation at the University of Basel, she investigated the influence of environmental conditions and chemical communication on the maternal care of social insects. Afterwards she worked as a reporter and later as studa director for ecotoxicological field studies and terrestrial ecotoxicology for Eurofins (D).
Alan Bergmann has been establishing and optimizing a new system for the identification of toxic substances in food packaging and environmental samples since October 2017. The system combines the separation of substances by thin-layer chromatography with bioassays and mass spectrometry (see article). Alan studied environmental toxicology at Western Washington University in Bellingham (USA). He wrote his doctoral thesis at Oregon State University in Corvallis. In his thesis he investigated the potential of passive samplers and related techniques to reduce the complexity of contaminant mixtures in the environment.
Sophie Campiche left the Ecotox centre in November 2017 and and started her own company. With her company EnviBioSoil, Sophie offers consulting and services in the fields of soil biology and soil ecotoxicology.
