Summary:The EU Commission published a Soil Strategy in 2021 as part of the Green Deal. This strategy shows that much of the EU's soils are in poor condition, making it difficult for us to meet future challenges such as food security, climate neutrality and resilience. The EU Commission has set a challenging target for Europe's soils to be in a healthy state by 2050. One aspect of this soil strategy is the establishment of an EU-wide directive on soil protection. In July 2023, the draft of the EU Directive on Soil Monitoring and Resilience was published. The aim of the lecture is to present the contents of this draft.
